These poems come from working with children for years. It remains my passion and my joy to do so even now. Enjoy!

A Rainbow Connection: With eyes of delight, she explores her world. Just being with her is like finding a rare pearl. Her spirit is light, and her touch breaks the seal. Her life, at such a young age, acts as a key to what is real. With eyes full of tears, she expresses her heart. And than, in a moment, she finds a new start. Expecting nothing but to be loved and to love, she is a work of art, just like a rainbow that appears and opens ones heart.

A Vision Quest: I see an apple tree ripped up by the roots. I see it transplanted and bring forth new fruit. I see a pearl hidden deep within. I see it revealed, and a new life begins. I see a rainbow in a clear blue sky. I see it dissolve as evening draws nigh. I see a child's smile, and my heart takes wing. I see that child explore new things. I see a puppy at play, and it makes me laugh. I see that same puppy take a new path. I see, and I am full of wonder in the small things that bring delight. Things that cause my spirit to take flight.

Angel Wings: With a child-like point of view, my heart dares to dream. With a child's sense of adventure, things become not what they seem. With a child's ability to feel sad, there is room for a belly laugh. With a child's open eyes and a dazzling smile, I see a better tomorrow. With a child's sense of purity and an open heart, I am ready to enter in and do my part.

Beach Combing: Smell the air, see the waves, and watch the children running in the surf. Observe the seagull and the clear blue sky as you take in the adventure, walking barefoot in the warm white sand. Collect a few seashells and a few sand crabs as you listen to the train whistle. Share the day with a friend. Go home peaceful, sails set into the wind.

Reach for the Stars: Do you ever wish you were a kite, free to fly any height you desire? Make tracks like a racehorse toward somewhere above the mire. Take flight like an eagle that flies far and wide. Or maybe be a mountain stream that rushes into the ocean's tide? And maybe, you have thought about being an innocent child, one that smiles at life and sees nothing as being defiled? Me, I have thought about being a rainbow or maybe a butterfly that takes one's mind off all the things that one should not have to abide by.

Seasons: As a child in the summer, we see only bright colors. Nothing seems bleak or gray. Then as a teen in autumn, we think we know it all. Only to find that as we grow older still, the bright colors that once brought joy now take an act of will. Oh, to be a child that sees the world as a playground full of bright colors to share with loved ones old and new, who also need to see things as children do.

The Anchor Holds: Waves rush over the sandy white sands. Birds chirp, and it becomes a peaceful land. Unseen treasures are yet to be revealed, days are full as life's mysteries unseal.Spirits soar like an eagles and youth renewed, children filled with laughter creating a lively tune. Serenity lapses for a moment and then overflows, loves never-ending cycle begins to grow. Simple joys fill the empty spaces as dreams unfold. Winds blow, waves crash and the anchor holds.

Treasure Chests of Art: Light dims when fear sets in. Love grows when set free to flow. Life moves like a bird in flight. Lessons learned changes the heart, creating a treasure chest of valued art. Hearts melt and spirits rise, as the heavens open up in a child's eyes.

With Eyes of a Child: In the eyes of a child, I see such love. Reminding me, again, that they are a gift sent from above. In the laughter of little ones, I find such joy, in watching them grow our busy little girls and boys. And even in their tears, I see their heart to be 'held secure,' with a tenderness that will not depart. I see, and I observe theirs is a world of creative art.
